God has, is, and will restore the world in all its brokenness to the rule of His Son, Christ Jesus. Until that time when Jesus returns, we believe all Christians have a part to play in the outworking of God’s sovereign plan.
At LCU, that means we do our best to cultivate a transformational community, where our students learn to recognize and act on what God is doing in the world. Below, you’ll see the Four Pillars that inform us as we carry out this mission:
- Acts 5:29 – “We must obey God rather than men.” As our first president, Earl Hargrove, said, “[Pray] that we will not cooperate or compromise when the Gospel is at stake.”
- Matthew 28:18-20 – “Make disciples of all nations.” The Great Commission is our great commitment.
- Ephesians 4:11-12 – “And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.” We are a priesthood of believers, and we believe that every person—regardless of job title, education, or personal background—has a mission in God’s great plan.
- 2 Corinthians 10:5 – “We . . . take every thought captive to obey Christ.” Scholarship should be in service to the Kingdom. We believe that God has called us to advance the Kingdom around the world and in every nation and generation for His glory.
