Lectureships
Lincoln Christian University supports the efforts of our students, church members, and nearby residents to be lifelong learners. One of the ways that LCU assists in fulfilling this goal is by inviting a wide variety of noted scholars, teachers, and preachers to campus. These are the men and women who are influencing the Church and the world today. All lectureships are free and open to the public.
Every fall, the James D. Strauss Worldview Lectureship honors the legacy of Dr. James Strauss, who taught in the areas of theology and philosophy. The Strauss Lectureship is typically held the second Tuesday and Wednesday of October. Recent guest lecturers include Craig Hazen, D. Stephen Long, Darrell Bock, Kevin Lawson, David Gushee, and C. Ben Mitchell.
The John M. Webb Lectureship pays tribute to the life and legacy of Dr. John Webb, emeritus academic dean and professor of preaching at LCU. The lectures are offered once every two years. As a testimony to our mission of preparing preachers, LCU invites gifted preachers and professors of preaching to challenge our thinking and uphold the professional preaching ministry in today’s world. Recent Webb lecturers have included Bryan Chapell, Devereux Hubbard, Bruce Shields, and Peter Kuzmic.
Every other spring, the Seminary Lectureship invites speakers that focus on the various disciplines represented in the Seminary such as theology, psychology, Christian education, intercultural studies, history or other areas. Some of the more recent speakers have been Mark McMinn, John Witvliet, and Michael J. Wilkins.
