After serving as the youth minister at Lincoln Christian Church in Lincoln, IL, Don (LCC ’07, LCS ’13) and Rae (LCU ’10) Kauffman followed God¹s calling to Chicagoland.
They are on staff at New Life Community Church and part of an initiative to plant 40 new churches in Chicago by 2020.
On March 3, 2013, they opened the doors to New Life Community Church in Oak Lawn, IL. Oak Lawn is a near-southwest suburb of Chicago, located just south of Midway Airport. Don is actively involved in further developing a mentoring program called Next Generation Leaders. It is aimed at raising up 18- to 28-year-old men and women as emerging leaders in the church. On top of weekly preaching and pastoring, Don is developing discipleship tools and resources for growing locations of New Life Community Church.
Rae has been involved with raising up ministries since the beginning of New Life Community Church. She has created a team of leaders to lead the hospitality ministry at the church. Rae recently finished her first semester of leading the Women¹s Ministry which grew to three small groups by the end of the semester. In just over one year, the church has grown from 30 to over 200.
Don and Rae have two sons. Jonathan is two and Lucas will be one year old in August. They can be contacted at donk@newlifechicago.org or at the church address: 6559 W 92nd Street, Oak Lawn, IL.
