Kyle, LCU ’06, and Colleen, LCU ’07, Gennicks and their family are planting a local church in Montgomery, IL (a far west suburb of Chicago) by Aurora, Oswego, Sugar Grove, and Yorkville!
From the years of 2000-2010, Montgomery multiplied from 5,000 to 20,000 people, but the number of churches – seven – remained the same. The Gennicks family lives in the middle of a 2.5-mile circle with 26,000 people, 8,000 homes, and one church – MISSION CHURCH!
After eight months of building a Community Group and Launch Group, Sunday Suppers and Interest Gatherings, MISSION CHURCH hosted its first Worship Gathering on Sunday, September 9 at 10:00 a.m. at Lakewood Creek Elementary School (2301 Lakewood Creek Drive, Montgomery, IL 60538)! In their first six weeks, they welcomed 113 people from 45 families, averaging 60 people each week.
Now, in addition to their Worship Gathering on Sunday, they are building more Community Groups in the week and preparing to be part of Explore God, an initiative with 1,000 Chicagoland churches to engage nonbelievers and equip believers to ask and answer seven big questions about life, purpose, God, pain and suffering, Christianity, Jesus, and the Bible.
If you are thinking, “How can I GIVE?” or “How can I SERVE?” please consider:
JOINING the partnership team by giving toward their startup costs or by becoming an ongoing financial partner – they are actively pursuing individuals, couples, families, and local churches to support their work!
PRAYING for the Gennicks family and Mission Church, for a close walk with Jesus, an identity rooted in Christ, strong marriages and families, wisdom and courage, favor in their community, faithfulness in their work, and fruit for God’s kingdom – they need your prayer now more than ever!
SHARING the contact information with anyone you know who lives in or around Montgomery and is interested in walking with Jesus and being part of a new church family – they will be invited!
VISITING Mission Church on a Sunday or any time you find yourself in the Chicagoland area for any reason – they would love to meet you!
“Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God. Whenever I pray, I make my requests for all of you with joy, for you have been my partners in spreading the Good News about Christ from the time you first heard it until now.” (Philippians 1:3-5, NLT)
