Carl Wayne Huxford

Carl Wayne Huxford, 78, of Marshall, Indiana passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Franciscan Health Indianapolis.

He was a minister actively serving 57 years and served in Parke County Government: eight years as deputy recorder, then elected 16 years as recorder and 8 years as treasurer.

He was born August 30, 1943, in Hot Springs, South Dakota to the late Hobart Huxford and Florence Denton Huxford.

His wife of 47 years, Vicki Lynne Davis Huxford whom he married February 29, 1964, in Hasting, Nebraska preceded him in death December 12, 2011.

Survivors include his children, Theresa (Bruce) Millikan of Tangier, Tami (Marty) Smith of Tangier, Titus Huxford of Marshall, Steve (Candi) Huxford of Greenfield and Travis (Wendy) Huxford of Marshall, Illinois; one brother, Donald (Lois) Huxford of Rapid City, South Dakota; one sister-in-law, Kay Huxford of Rapid City, South Dakota; 15 grandchildren, Shane Flaurr, Tara Steele, Justin Benassi, Jason Millikan, Stephanie Roell, Nathan Smith, Isaac Smith, Hannah Smith, Brianne Turner, Mallory Huxford, Kaleb Huxford, Kia Huxford, Rachel Millikan, Ellie Huxford and Lindsey Huxford; 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mike Flaurr, daughter-in-law, Sondra Huxford and a brother, Bruce Huxford.

He was a graduate of Hot Springs High School, Platte Valley Bible College and Lincoln Christian College. He served many churches in his lifetime including: Church of Christ in Edgemont, South Dakota, Old Ripley Christian Church in Pocahontas, Illinois, Church of Christ, Lewis, Iowa, Anita Church of Christ, Anita, Iowa, Limon Christian Church, Limon, Colorado, Portland Mills Christian Church, Parkeville Christian Church, Scott’s Prairie Christian Church, Mount Herman Bible Church and Cloverdale Christian Church. He also pastored as a “fill in” and interim minister when needed.

Services will be 11:00 am Friday, May 6, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville, with the Rev. John Cornell officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Garden Cemetery, Rockville. Visitation is 4-8 pm Thursday at Gooch Funeral Home.
