Charles E. Webb, LBI ’50

Charles E. “Chuck” Webb, LBI ’50, was called to his heavenly home on August 26, 2016 at the River Hills Village in Keokuk, IA.

Chuck served in the United States Navy during WWII and was stationed on Okinawa. After his honorable discharge in August, 1946, he entered Lincoln Bible Institute as a preaching student. While at LBI, Chuck met his wife, Marjory “Elly” Quandt, LBI, ’50. They were married August 22, 1950, shortly after graduating. They celebrated 66 years of marriage just four days before his death. Chuck had a lifelong preaching ministry from which he never retired. He served many churches in Illinois, Nebraska, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas and Wigan, England. He was very creative and innovative in his ministry and developed two television shows to help spread the Gospel of Christ: “By The Way,” which aired on WGEM/Quincy for 40 years and “The Chuck and Danny Show,” which featured his ventriloquist doll, Danny. It aired for six years on KTVO/Kirksville. He was the recipient of the Restoration Award in 1987 for his work in Christian TV evangelism. Chuck also served as evangelist in many revivals and as faculty in many weeks of church camps. He loved watching and playing basketball. He played during high school and college and was inducted into the LCU Hall of Fame in 2004. Chuck was always interested in the adventure of flying a plane, perhaps because of being named after Charles Lindberg. In the 60’s he took lessons and received his private pilot license. He was an avid reader and enjoyed Christian literature and mystery novels. He authored several short booklets of Daily Devotions and biblical topics. Chuck is survived by his wife, four children, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and other family members. Services were held at the New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk.
