Gerald “Jerry” Lewis, LBI ’60, passed away on September 8, 2018. He was a loving husband, father of four, grandfather of 12, and great grandfather to five. He served as a minister for 58 years in California, Illinois, Ohio, and Utah.
Jerry’s passions were his family, his congregations, and sports. He loved the Utah Jazz and the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, and watching just about any sport.
Jerry served as the chaplain for the Utah Jazz for over 30 years and rarely missed a game. Jerry had a brilliant mind and was a talented athlete. Despite an opportunity to become a professional athlete, he chose to serve the Lord. His family will remember his wit, infectious smile, and kind and compassionate spirit. He was the king of “Dad” jokes.
He will be missed by his family, the community, and his church. He is survived by wife Jean, his four children, Dawn, Mark (Cathy), Bethanie (Mike), Rebecca (CJ), and his sister, Joyce Sterling.
