James Cunningham, LBI ’55, went home to be with the Lord on September 20, 2016.
James was ordained in 1951 and preached at many churches in Illinois before moving to Omaha, Nebraska in 1963. He was senior pastor at Florence Christian Church where he ministered for over 25 years. He had a passion for life which included God, family, friends, riding motorcycles, flying a small private airplane, and telling jokes. He had quite a sense of humor. James served on several committees, charities, was an elder at Kingsway Christian Church in Omaha and a member of the North Omaha Kiwanis, as well as an avid donor for the Red Cross. He and his wife Blanche celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this past summer. She survives. Also surviving are their two children, five granddaughters, four great grandchildren, his sisters and other family members. Services were held on September 24, 2016 at Kingsway Christian Church.
