Lola J. (Griffith) Cook, LBI ’51, went home to be with the Lord on August 15, 2016, in Westphalia, MO.
She married James A. Cook Sr. in May, 1952. He preceded her in death in January, 2012. She is survived by three children, Timothy Cook (Deborah), J. Allan Cook Jr. (Jane), and Abby Jo Vinyard (fiancé, Ron Luebbert), several grandchildren, one great-grandchild, her sister, and several nieces and nephews. Lola was employed by GTE Telephone Company as an operator, supervisor and trainer in Jacksonville, Macomb, and Lincoln. She was an accomplished organist who assisted her husband in his many ministries and volunteered her time more recently as organist for services at the Passavant Hospital Chapel. Lola was a talented painter, providing hand-painted scenes for many church baptisteries. She also enjoyed many art forms including interior decorating and ceramics, was an avid book reader and, as a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, collected Cubs memorabilia. Services were held on Friday, August 19th, 2016, at the First Christian Church in South Jacksonville, IL.
