Patsy Jo Deck (LCU ’52)

Patsy Jo Deck Jacksonville, IL – Patsy Jo Deck, 86, of Jacksonville, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville. She was born in November 1934, in Lincoln, the daughter of Herbert Boyd and Ethel R. Woods Smith. Patsy graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Lincoln Christian College (Lincoln Christian University). She married James David Deck on June 19, 1953, at First Christian Church in Lincoln. He preceded her in death on October 29, 2020. They were blessed with three daughters, Debora, Deanna, and Drusilla. Patsy is survived by three daughters, Debora Martin (husband, Scott) of Platteville, Wisconsin, Deanna White (husband, Richard) of Vicksburg, Michigan, and Dru Fernandes (husband, Kirk) of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, Luella Martin of Platteville, Wisconsin, Willie Martin of Lockport, Louisiana, Jason White of San Angelo, Texas, Jared White of Charlotte, North Carolina, Collin Fernandes of Bentonville, Arkansas, and Quin Fernandes of Portland, Oregon. She was preceded in death by one brother, Billie Boyd Smith (wife, Norma) of Lincoln.

Patsy was a Longaberger Consultant through which she met and made many friends. She retired from the Children’s Department of J.C. Penney. She was an accomplished seamstress and crafter. Patsy enjoyed her home and garden but her first love were her children and grandchildren. She assisted her husband in his ministries and volunteered her time as youth and Sunday School teacher.

The family wishes to acknowledge and thank all of the nurses and staff at Heritage for their loving care. A “Going Home Celebration” will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 7th at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service. Private interment will be at a later date at Union Cemetery in Lincoln. Memorial contributions may be made to Lincoln Christian University in Lincoln, or First Christian Church in Jacksonville.
