Philip L. Rogers, LCC ’79, LCS ’84, passed away on August 22, 2017 in his home after a long struggle with Huntington’s disease.
Phil served as youth minister at Fisher Church of Christ, and was the preaching minister at Hoopston Church of Christ in Danville, IL for nine years. He and his family answered the call to work with African Christian Mission, serving in Zaire and later in Mali, from 1988-1998. Phil’s diagnosis of Huntington’s disease brought them back to the states, where Phil continued to preach in supporting churches as long as he was physically able. Once travel became too difficult he served as an elder, small group leader, and faithful front-door greeter at Jefferson Street Christian Church in Lincoln, IL. Phil was an avid Cubs fan, and his family was thankful he got to witness their World Series win in 2016. Phil is survived by his wife of 36 years, Angela (Wilson), LCC ’83, two daughters, Michelle and Rebecca, a son, Moses, two brothers, and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
