Robert Grider (LCC ’68 BA)

Robert L. “Bob “ Grider, 81, of Rockville, Indiana went home to be with the Lord Saturday, December 18, 2021 in his residence. He was a retired minister. He and Marsha were Christian singer/songwriter‘s and enjoyed their music ministry with their children, traveling to churches across the central and southern states. He was born August 22, 1940 in Champaign County, Illinois to Cosby Grider and Marie Rainwater Grider. Survivors include his wife Marsha K. Thornberry whom he married May 2, 1959; also surviving, five children, Kathy Grider, Connie (Les) McCullough, Kim (James) Campbell, Rob (Betty) Grider and Christina Grider; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, many cousins, many friends, and his pets Keeper and Tom. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Donna Sue Grider. He was a 1958 graduate of Marshall High School, attended Kentucky Christian College and graduated from Lincoln Christian College. He was a member of the Mecca Christian Church, enjoyed horseback riding, playing the Guitar, Mandolin, Fiddle and Marsha‘s Upright Bass. He loved the Lord and his family dearly.

A celebration of life will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 28 at the Mecca Christian Church with fellow minister and dear friend Richard McQuinn officiating. Visitation will be 4–8 p.m. Monday at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard Street, Rockville. Burial will follow at Centennial Cemetery in Yeddo.
