Stanley E. Hicks (LCC ’68 BA)

Stanley Earl Hicks was born in Indianapolis, February 1936 and passed from his life on January 10, 2022. After attending Arsenal Technical High School, he enlisted in the Navy; following which he was employed as an Engineering Draftsman in Indianapolis and Miami, Florida. Relocating to Lincoln, Illinois, he attended Lincoln Christian College earning a degree in Ministerial Studies. He also earned a Master of Science degree from Indiana University in Adult Education. The Pastor served various congregations beginning in 1962 and concluding his retirement from the Mt. Pleasant Christian Church in Hall in 2008, following a twenty year ministry there.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, the former Loretta Richardson. Together Stan and Loretta were blessed to share in church ministries until she succumbed to cancer in January 2008. Pastor Hicks is survived by his six children: Douglas (Doris) Hicks, Jeffrey Hicks, Brook (Jim) Weidman, Sharon (Stefan) Bathory, Kara Lynn (Vance) Miner, and Pamela (Steve) Starks; his 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; his wife, Vickie Hawk of Camby; and one brother, John Hicks of California.

Visitation for Pastor Hicks will be 5 to 8 pm on Friday, January 14th and from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, January 15th at Jones Family Mortuary in Mooresville. A commemorative service will be held at 10 am immediately following visitation hours on Saturday, January 15th. Pastor Hicks will be buried at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hall. In lieu of flower donations, Pastor Hicks has requested that donations be directed to Lincoln Christian University, 100 Campus View Drive, Lincoln, Illinois, 62656.
