The Warehouse, LCU’s Student Center, took advantage of the break this summer to undergo renovations and prepare for students returning this fall. Located in the center of campus, the Warehouse offers students a place to study and hang-out with friends, connect to wi-fi, access a television with cable, and enjoy delicious coffee from The Warehouse Coffeeshop.
So, what do we hope our students and guests notice when they walk in the Warehouse this year? First, we hope the appreciate the nicely painted floors and the rearranged furniture. It’s noticeably quieter in the Warehouse this year, thanks to the new air conditioner concealed in the new storage closet. The dropped ceilings also help dampen noise as it also offers more light to students working on homework assignments and papers.
In addition to providing students with new seating options this fall, the Student Center now has two television viewing areas. Each area has seating that allows students to gather around and watch a variety of sports, drama, and comedy programs. One of the most noticeable seating additions is the computer bar with electrical outlets that allow students to work independently while surrounded by the community that the student center builds.
Warehouse Supervisor Kory Henke, who joined the LCU staff this spring, notes a few other things that will be different during the 2016-17 school year. Little things that might catch your eye are the new in-house mugs sporting the Warehouse Coffeeshop logo and LCU merchandise which is now more visible. LCU merchandise is available for purchase from the Coffeeshop during open hours.
Another change this year; the Warehouse Coffeeshop will be open a few hours on both Saturdays and Sundays. The opportunity to buy coffee on the weekend will be a delight to many students who need the extra caffeine boost to finish their work. Click here for the 2016-2017 hours of operation.
LCU is thankful to the special offering from the Christian Women’s Conference and the Alumni Association for making these improvements possible.
