William “Bill” G. Poling Sr. (LBI Fall ’63), passed away on January 28, 2020.
Bill started full time ministry in 1962 serving congregations in West Virginia, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Texas, and Oklahoma. He drove a school bus for many years and was privileged to drive the Cherokee, IA Special Olympics team for their state championship. He was a member of the board of Iowa Christian College. While in Nebraska, he served as the president of the planning committee for the Nebraska Christian Convention. He loved fishing, golfing, playing racketball, and traveling with his wife, Sandy. Bill was an avid reader, especially biblical commentaries. He was a huge Pittsburg Steeler fan. Bill left an impact on many people and demonstrated a Jesus-like love to everyone he met. Surviving are his wife, Sandy, son, Bill Poling Jr., LCS ’78 and his wife Shauna, daughter Robin Houze and her husband Bill, and seven grandchildren.
