CARES Act Reporting, Quarterly Report: January 10, 2022

CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) Report

The following information is provided in compliance with the Department of Education reporting requirements for the CARES Act Emergency Financial Aid.

  1. Lincoln Christian University signed and submitted the CARES Act Certification and Agreement on April 21, 2020. Lincoln Christian University affirms that it has used or intends to use no less than fifty (50) percent of the designated funds received under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students.
  2. Lincoln Christian University received $936,370.00 from the Department of Education for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs.
  3. Lincoln Christian University has distributed $629,422.91 of Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs as of January 10, 2022. This total will be updated quarterly.
  4. Lincoln Christian University has an estimated total of 897 students eligible to receive Emergency Financial Aid Grants under the CRRSAA and ARP (a)(1) and (a)(4) programs.
  5. Lincoln Christian University has distributed funds to 511 students.
  6. Lincoln Christian University students requesting Emergency Financial Aid Grants under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act completed an application detailing expenses related to the closure of campus. The Financial Aid Director verified Title IV eligibility for each student. The submitted expenses were then reviewed by the Vice President of Student Development. Any expenses deemed eligible as determined by the CARES Act guidelines were included in the approved total for the individual student. In December 2020, individual grants were provided to undergraduate residential students. In April 2021, and in accordance with new guidelines for the CRRSAA funds, individual grants were provided to students with exceptional need. The Financial Aid Director verified Title IV eligibility for each student. In October 2021, and in accordance with updated guidelines for the CRRSAA funds, individual grants were provided to students, prioritizing those students with exceptional need.
  7. The Vice President of Student Development emailed the entire student body on April 30, 2020, informing them of the LCU’s eligibility for the CARES Act grant. The Emergency Student Aid Policy was attached and it communicated the conditions as laid out in Secretary DeVos’ letter dated April 9, 2020. On May 6, 2020, Vice President Dicken emailed the entire student body a second time enclosing the policy and the grant application. On November 30, 2020, Vice President Dicken emailed eligible undergraduate residential students notifying them of the available grant. Students were instructed to fill out a form to indicate interest in receiving the grant. On April 16, 2021, an email was sent from Vice President Dicken to all eligible students notifying them of available grant money. Students were able to complete an online form choosing a method of distribution. Vice President Dicken sent an email on September 30, 2021 to all eligible students notifying them of additional grant money. A form was provided for them to complete indicating interest in the grant and making a choice for distribution. Additionally, the LCU website was updated with the new guidelines.
