Lincoln Christian University (LCU) desires to protect the health and safety of its students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community. It is vital for all LCU community members to understand these guidelines and agree to abide by them while an active part of this community. These guidelines may be updated and revised as needed based on guidelines from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), Logan County Health Department, and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
We recommend and encourage all members of the LCU community get vaccinated and boosted. All boosted and/or vaccinated students/employees should communicate their status to Taylor Payne, Director of Human Resources, and submit a copy of their vaccination or booster record to be added to their health records. If anyone needs assistance in getting vaccinated, please contact hr@lincolnchristian.edu for help.
Due to the CDC’s most recent recommendations, released Thursday, August 11, 2022, LCU has updated its COVID policy.
We will not require masking or testing on a regular basis. We will not provide contact tracing if an individual tests positive. We will provide testing on a case‐by‐case basis for individuals with symptoms who request a test while supplies last. If you test positive off campus (not with an LCU test), please report your positive test to Taylor Payne, tdpayne@lincolnchristian.edu. If you test positive and need to miss class and/or work due to isolation, YOU are responsible for communicating to your professors and/or supervisor. This is a change from previous years. If you test positive, we highly recommend communicating to those you’ve been in close contact with so they can take the necessary precautions.
While we are not requiring masks, any individual who prefers to wear a mask should feel free to do so. Harassment of those choosing to wear a mask will not be tolerated.
Current CDC Recommendations for Isolation:
- Regardless of vaccination status, if you are exposed to COVID‐19, wear a high‐quality mask for 10 days and get tested on day 5.
- Regardless of vaccination status, you should isolate from others when you have COVID‐19.
- You should also isolate if you are sick and suspect that you have COVID‐19 but do not yet have test results.
- If your results are positive, follow CDC’s full isolation recommendations.
- If your results are negative, you can end your isolation.
- You should also isolate if you are sick and suspect that you have COVID‐19 but do not yet have test results.
- If you test positive for COVID‐19, stay home for at least 5 days and isolate from others in your home. You are likely most infectious during these first 5 days. Wear a high‐quality mask when you must be around others at home and in public.
- If after 5 days you are fever‐free for 24 hours without the use of medication, and your symptoms are improving, or you never had symptoms, you may end isolation after day 5.
- Regardless of when you end isolation, avoid being around people who are more likely to get very sick from COVID‐19 until at least day 11.
- You should wear a high‐quality mask through day 10.
All LCU students and employees are subject to the guidelines identified herein and are being asked to abide by these guidelines as a demonstration of our love and concern for each other as well as those around us. Lincoln Christian University’s guidelines are set with the goal that students, staff, and faculty can safely remain on campus. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in an individual’s removal from campus.
