Ralls Research Award: Dr. Frank Dicken
The purpose of the Ralls Research Award is to encourage faculty to undertake significant research or professional development activities, and through the faculty to positively impact the lives of LCU students preparing to service Christ, the church, and our society. It is presented annually to a full-time member of the LCU faculty selected by the Chief Academic Officer and Academic Deans. The gifts to establish this award have been provided by David and Sylvia Corts and Paul and Diane Corts in honor of former LCU professor John Ralls.
Chitwood Book Award: Dr. Tyler Stewart for The Origin and Persistence of Evil in Galatians
The purpose of the Chitwood Outstanding Faculty Book Award is to recognize and encourage the publication of outstanding research by faculty members of Lincoln Christian University and is presented annually to the author(s) of the peer-reviewed book which an external review committee judges to be the most outstanding book published by a full-time member of the LCU faculty. The gift to establish this award have been provided by Drs. Dale D. and Janet S. Chitwood.
Chitwood Research Award: Dr. Jonathan Lyonhart for “Being and Time-less Faith: Juxtaposing Heideggarian Anxiety and Religious Experience“
The purpose of the Chitwood Outstanding Faculty Journal Article Award is to recognize and encourage the publication of outstanding research by faculty members of Lincoln Christian University and is presented annually to the author(s) of the peer-reviewed article which an external review committee judges to be the most outstanding journal article published by a full-time member of the LCU faculty. The gift to establish this award have been provided by Drs. Dale D. and Janet S. Chitwood.
Kurka Teaching Award: Dr. Violeta Cone
This fund was established in honor of former professor Robert C. Kurka in appreciation for his lifetime of distinguished teaching in order to encourage faculty to each with excellence in order to have a positive impact through their teaching for Christ with the ultimate purpose of furthering the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). The award is presented annually to that full-time member of the faculty who most demonstrates excellence as an instructor. Nominations are received from both faculty and students and the recipient chosen be a selection committee composed of LCU’s Chief Academic Officer and the past year’s award recipients. The gifts to establish this award have been provided by Drs. Silas and Anna McCormick.
Kline Service Award: Tom Sowers
This fund was established in honor of former LCU registrar Alan Kline in appreciation for his lifetime of distinguished service to LCU and beyond in order to encourage faculty to engage in outstanding service in order to have a positive impact through their service for Christ with the ultimate purpose of furthering the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). The award is presented annually to that full-time member of the faculty who demonstrates outstanding service to the church and the world. Nominations are received from both faculty and students and the recipient chosen be a selection committee composed of LCU’s Chief Academic Officer and the past year’s award recipients. The gifts to establish this award have been provided by Drs. Silas and Anna McCormick.
