Peoria Rescue Ministries – Barnabas Counseling Center

Full-time or Part-time Counselor – Licensed (or pursuing licensure)

Role Description:  This role requires a growing follower of Jesus with a desire to care for our Barnabas Center counseling clients in a compassionate, effective, and efficient manner.  The desired candidate will embrace and pursue the Barnabas Center core value of implementing a counseling approach that is “decidedly biblical and clinically excellent”.

Role Details:

Schedule (with some possible flexibility): 

  • Monday through Thursday – 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  •  Evening shift on Tuesday – 4:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
  •  Fridays off

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to stand or sit for extended periods of time, walk, kneel, lift up to 25lbs.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and skill level.

Experience/Skills Requirements:

  • Must be a licensed counselor (LCPC, LCSW, etc.) or in a master’s level program pursuing counseling licensure as an LCPC/LCSW or higher degree.
  • Must have current skills or motivation in developing skills in treating unresolved trauma (both PTSD and Complex PTSD).
  • Must have current skills or motivation in developing skills in marriage and family counseling.
  • Case conceptualization leading to a treatment plan with measurable utilizing Christ-centered as well as evidence-based interventions.
  • Learn and utilize Therapynotes for client records documentation including but not limited to bio-psycho-social-spiritual intake assessments, treatment plans, progress no Conducting thorough intake interview, assessment, and diagnosis.
  • Must interact with care for a wide variety of clients experiencing a variety of challenges in a Gospel-centered grace and truth manner.
  • Must maintain client confidentiality.
  • Must maintain an open, friendly, and harmonious atmosphere among office personnel and clients.
  • Must possess good oral/written communication skills and excellent social skills in working with a wide variety of clients.
