POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Marketing is responsible for the administration and oversight of Lincoln Christian University’s marketing and branding efforts, supporting the University’s unique position in the Christian higher education marketplace and in the local church. The Director’s responsibilities include the development and implementation of marketing and communication strategies; oversight of marketing services, including photography, videography, print and digital media, event promotion and coverage, and maintenance of the University’s website; and maintenance of the marketing budget.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- General Administration
- Develops and maintains a positive, collaborative working relationship with all University employees, with particular emphasis on Academics, Enrollment Services, Lincoln Christian Institute, Information Technology, Advancement, and Alumni Services
- Manages the marketing budget
- Develops and maintains relationships with third-party vendors, consultants, and service-providers
- Marketing and Communication
- Manages the strategic and creative design of Lincoln Christian University’s marketing and communication materials and Lincoln Christian Institute’s marketing and communication materials, with an emphasis on articulating and promoting the mission, vision, and identity of the University and the Institute
- Develops strategies to ensure consistent communication and use of brand imaging University-wide; trains both internal and external constituencies on brand requirements to ensure uniform style
- With the collaboration of Enrollment Services, develops and executes a strategic branding strategy that facilitates the effective recruitment of students in accordance with the University’s mission
- Manages the strategic and creative design of Lincoln Christian Institute’s online resources (PDFs, podcasts, etc.)
- With the collaboration of Advancement, develops and executes communication strategies that attract donors supportive of the University’s mission
- Oversees all aspects of the University’s project management process to ensure institutional marketing needs are met in an appropriate and timely manner
- Oversees the design, production, and distribution of all university publications, particularly the Restorer, the University’s alumni magazine
- Ensures that the University’s website remains current and executes necessary updates in a timely manner; serves as liaison between the University and third-parties involved in website design and management
- Crafts an effective social media presence that builds and sustains awareness of the University; actively evaluates options for expansion of social media footprint (departmental Facebook pages, increased Instagram/Twitter/YouTube presence, etc.); uses data to analyze social media effectiveness and make necessary adjustments
- Spearheads the design and creation of University marketing materials and services, as well as marketing campaigns and promotional activities; conducts design services as necessary, including photography, videography, graphic design, print media, and other areas of need
- Regularly conducts research to ensure that the University stays on target with current and emerging higher education marketing trends; collaborates with departments to ensure relevance
- Serves as the University’s media relations coordinator

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Commitment to the mission and vision of the University
- Demonstrated ability to tell compelling stories through print media, photography, videography, etc.
- Ability to cast a vision and forge strong, effective relationships in all facets
- Strong organizational, time management, planning, and leadership skills
- Ability to multitask, manage, and prioritize multiple projects; proficiency at working both independently and collaboratively
- Knowledge of current marketing, web presence, and social media practices by both Christian and higher education organizations
- Proven success and experience in interacting effectively with diverse populations; able to create media that appeals to a wide variety of constituencies, from high school students to older alumni
- Ability to work irregular hours as needed, including evenings and weekends as requested
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university required; master’s degree preferred
Experience: Marketing experience in a Christian organization or higher education institution preferred
Computer Skills: Proficiency in working with computers, word processing, website management, social media platforms, and spreadsheet management software
Specialized Skills: Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Lightroom, InDesign, and Illustrator; video editing software; professional writing expertise; and familiarity with HTML
