Discovery Ministries is a Christian adventure camp, that seeks to invite believers to discover the adventurous life in Christ discovered in the midst of adversity and at the end of the trial.
We passionately call people to leave behind comfort and conformity, and venture into the wild places where God’s transformative work happens. Interns experience this also. A large part of this is that at Discovery Ministries interns become teachers. Teachers must practice what they teach by enduring their own intense experiences. Since they are instructors-in-training, interns are charged with pushing themselves and participants towards spiritual, mental and physical growth.
Our internships are rich learning experiences, full of variety. Interns develop hard skills related to outdoor activities including rock climbing, canoeing, caving, challenge course facilitation, group initiatives, etc. and soft skills related to outdoor leadership, debriefing and group dynamics. In addition, interns join the staff in promoting Discovery Ministries’ mission and physical maintenance. This includes cleaning bathrooms, repairing buildings, public-relations projects and more. Our foremost aim is for interns to become dynamic, Christian leaders in their future endeavors.
Beyond experience, interns can expect to have their needs met. Discovery Ministries gives interns a $500/month grant and free lodging. Also, interns have many of their meals provided as they often eat with groups.
