POSITION TITLE: Youth & Young Adult Pastor
REPORTS TO: Senior Pastor and Elders
POSITION STATUS: Full-Time
MEMBERSHIP STATUS: This position requires membership at Grand Avenue Christian Church
POSITION SUMMARY: Create, manage, and direct areas of youth and young adult ministry (6th Grade and up through 20-somethings) to disciple and build community through a strong, healthy and growing small group relational ministry. Direct, recruit and train volunteers to serve in the youth and young adult ministries. Engage and work with campus ministry groups at SIU-Carbondale to promote tie-in to our local church. Assist as required in the church’s online ministry including such areas as social media presence, graphic arts, supporting OnePlace and streaming services.

- Strong leadership, communication, organizational and relational skills
- Ability to work with youth and their families, young adults and volunteers
- Ability to make changes, corrections and solve problems quickly under pressure
- Self-starter and high degree of discipline, strategic focus and follow-up
- Clearance of criminal background check
- Abide by all personnel policies of Grand Avenue Christian Church
Assist the church in providing discipleship, ministry and evangelism to the youth and youth guests at GACC.
Recruit, train, encourage and support Youth Sunday School, QUEST and special event leaders and volunteers
Manage the research, distribution and allocation of curriculum and supplies related to youth ministry.
Prepare and manage the budget for youth ministry.
Encourage and support volunteers through planning and fellowship.
Plan and support Youth special events including marketing efforts—website, social media, print materials, etc.
Participate in church staff meetings.
Participate in, serve and support various church events and staff needs as needed. This will include delivering the Sunday message when the Lead Minister is occasionally absent.
Create and execute a yearly ministry plan which incorporates feedback from elders and church staff. Communicate youth ministry vision, plans and progress with parents, elders and church members.
Organize and lead yearly trips for middle school and high school youth during the summer (CIY, etc.).
Organize and lead 1-2 other simple trips (such as a service project, road trip, camping or a training retreat of some kind.).
Create and oversee leadership opportunities for students (develop leadership skills and get youth involved in the ministry).
Facilitate regular outreach to youth in our community including 2-3 outreach events and outreach training/accountability for our youth to get them involved with the outreach.
As required, manage, produce and develop online ministry tools including videos, special event productions and advertisement, social media accounts, graphic arts and streaming services. Assist the church secretary in managing youth contacts in OnePlace.
