The Role: High School Director

Meet La Casa De Cristo:

La Casa de Cristo family is composed of many people from many different backgrounds, all of whom enrich our life together. Most visitors express an interest in knowing what we believe and how we are both similar to and different from other churches.

We encourage our La Casa family to get involved through these four areas:

Connecting in a Group, finding your place within our many ministries
Serving Strategically, discovering ways you can serve others
Inviting Others, inviting a friend to worship with us in person or online
Giving Systematically, offering your time, talent, and resources
All of our visitors, in person and online, come from different backgrounds or no spiritual background at all, and we celebrate that diversity. Your questions are always welcome. If you would like to learn more about us or if you have specific questions, we would love to hear from you.

About the High School Director:

The following job description describes the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, or skills required for the position. Department leaders may assign other job-related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the ministry.

The High School Director’s Responsibilities Include:

Weekly:

Direct and guide all elements of High School

Coordinate and lead the team of High School volunteers

Oversee the publicity of events and programs (newsletter, Tuesday email, website etc.)

Disciple students into a personal relationship with God in both large group and smaller, relational environment

Communicate with the Director of Junior High in relation to all events, activities and happenings in youth ministry

Use planning center to communicate all custodial and media needs

Be a visible leader on campus, execute the vision of the church

Oversee weekly student worship experiences that include many technical components and a live band

Monthly:

Spend adequate time with High School youth and families to know individuals and minister to them.

Attend monthly staff meetings and #LaCasaFamily Team meetings

Be actively involved in the lives of youth by attending sporting events, choir/theater performances, etc.

Create a proactive and compelling environment to which our high school students can invite their non-Christian friends

Actively recruit youth and young families through church supported activities and programs in the community
Bi-annually or Annually:

Develop, plan and oversee major ministry events such as-summer trip, winter retreat, VBX, serving opportunities, mission trips, etc.

Create and pursue a vision for the high school aged students of La Casa de Cristo

Attend “all hands on deck” events

Prepare summary report of High School Ministry activities for the annual report

Utilize planning center to schedule rooms for all events

Qualifications for employment at La Casa de Cristo include having made a life commitment to Jesus Christ. All staff are required to attend La Casa de Cristo weekly special meetings/conferences, staff-related events, and any other events required. You are expected to be an active member of La Casa de Cristo who attends weekly services while upholding the core values, belief statements and employment policies of the church.

What You Bring:

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Experience in a church ministry preferred

Experience in planning events and/or organizing retreats required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Be punctual and have consistent office hours (concurrent with the La Casa de Cristo office hours) to be available to the staff and congregation

Ability to relate and connect with students

Organizational skills

Demonstrates good judgment and decision-making skills

Adaptable and flexible

Good collaborator; works well in a team environment

Energetic and self-starter/take initiative

Interpersonal and relational skills

Tenacity to follow-through and attention to detail

Aptitude in technology and social media

Provide counsel to students when necessary

Personal Characteristics & Qualifications

Spiritual Maturity: Demonstrates a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a strong commitment to being a disciple of Jesus Christ and making disciples.

Honesty: Exhibits honesty, integrity, and Christian ethics. Actions are consistent with profession. Does what is right and speaks truthfully.

Commitment to Vision and Purpose: Commit and support the vision of La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church and organize ministry strategies and mechanisms around that vision.

Heart of a Shepherd: Strong desire and demonstrated ability to pursue, equip, train, counsel and build relationships with students, parents and volunteers.

Love for Students: Clearly exhibits a love for students and a passion for teaching, training and encouraging students for kingdom growth and living.

Solution Driven: Creativity to implement innovative programming and ability to figure out solutions for issues encountered in administering ministry.

It’s known for its spa resorts and golf courses, which can be found in all regions of the city. Visitors enjoy the trails that wind through McDowell Sonoran Preserve, a desertscape of hills, rock formations and cacti. Scottsdale boasts a plethora of walking trails and guided tours. Residents enjoy visiting Old Town Scottsdale, where you’ll find a unique collection of shops, restaurants, art galleries and nightclubs, as well as contemporary public art installations, world-class museums and historic sites from the late 1880s. Scottsdale enjoys more than 330 sunny days each year, which means pool season runs year-round, hiking trails and golf courses are always open, and any time is a great time to be outdoors. Scottsdale is also home to a large number of churches and places of worship.
