POSITION SUMMARY

Lincoln Christian University invites applications for a part-time professor-at-large faculty position in the area of general ministry. This is primarily a teaching position, with classes taught at both the undergraduate and graduate/seminary level. Other duties may be negotiated depending on the applicant’s strengths and experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Teach 12 credit hours (four classes) per year. Specific subjects will be assigned according to the applicant’s areas of expertise, but should include homiletics, pastoral care, and contextualized ministry. Classes will primarily be taught online, but may include other formats.
  • Participate in the shared governance of LCU’s faculty: attend faculty meetings and serve on university committees, as appropriate.
  • Accept as true LCU’s Statement of Faith and support LCU’s mission, vision, core values, and philosophy of education.
  • Adhere to all University policies faithfully including the Employee Handbook and live “above reproach.”
  • Participate in the spiritual life of LCU.
  • Encouraged to lead spiritual events and engage in mentoring students.
  • Attend campus employee meetings as scheduled. Meetings may be attended virtually.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Applicants should possess a passion for teaching, the ability to teach creatively and engagingly in online formats, a spirit of collegiality, and an ability to draw prospective students and support recruitment efforts.
  • Given the nature of this position, preferential consideration will be given to active members of independent Christian Churches or Churches of Christ, as these represent the University’s primary religious constituency.
  • Commitment to the mission and vision of the University.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: An earned doctorate (PhD or DMin) in ministry or related field.

Experience: Extensive church leadership experience, preferably at the senior minister level. Active ministers are especially encouraged to apply.

Computer Skills: Proficient skills in Word, Excel, and Google Suite. Familiarity with learning management systems is a plus.

This position can be done remotely or on campus if in the Lincoln, IL area.
