On November 11-12, 2012, LCU’s Professional Education Field in the School of Undergraduate Studies hosted two staff members from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). ASCI is known primarily for their work with K-12 schools, however they partner with higher education institutions, providing opportunities to connect with K-12 schools. Additionally, these higher education partnerships provide quality in college-level programs in Christian teacher education. Lincoln Christian University programs have been approved by ASCI since 2003. The November ACSI visit on our Lincoln, Illinois, campus was a mid-term review of the teacher education programs at LCU. During their visit, ACSI staff met with faculty, students, and administrators. They also reviewed curriculum, syllabi, and classes. As a result, the official report from the ACSI team contained seven commendations of excellence and had no recommendations for improvement. Based on these findings, LCU’s approval by ACSI continues through spring 2018.
We commend and thank Field Chair Dr. Karen Estep, Assistant Professor Barb Messner, and Administrative Assistant Lindsay Stevens for their hard work and preparation for this successful review.
