Lincoln Christian University is excited to announce the creation of a new undergraduate academic program: a Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts and Ministry.
Media Arts and Ministry is a four-year degree aimed at students interested in a career in ministry, specifically in the areas of media and technology. Courses include worship technology, leadership, budgeting, and other curriculum critical for successful staff membership at churches and other organizations, including creative design, communication, service planning, video imaging, sound and light technology, and streaming.
“LCU is in a unique position to take our 75-plus years of ministry training experience to bring it alongside current technology to make an area of study that looks beyond just using technology, but rather the use of technology to help facilitate ministry,” Assistant Professor of Communications Tom Sowers said.
Audio, video, and stage production, as well as administrative acumen, are all skills necessary in today’s churches and ministry organizations, and all are a heavy focus of the BA in Media Arts and Ministry.
This program at LCU is unique in the Christian higher education world because it pairs ministry with communications courses rather than business classes. This represents a step toward located ministry, in that it’s well-rounded with an emphasis on ministry broadly but a specialization in media, including social media and promotions.
“All areas of media and technology must been seen as a tools to help communicate the Gospel message to our generation,” Sowers said. “The use of technology has changed how we do ministry but not our heart for God’s people.”
Creative arts have never been in higher demand than in today’s churches and ministry organizations. A BA in Media Arts and Ministry from LCU can help a student with passion and calling in this area to develop the skillset and network necessary to mold a career out of helping grow the Kingdom of God.
