Lincoln Christian University is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Lowery, as Assistant Professor of Preaching, effective June 1, 2021.
This new hybrid role will combine his current work in Student Development as LCU’s Campus Pastor with leading LCU’s BA in Preaching program.
Dr. Silas McCormick, LCU’s President, says, “Preaching as a field of study here at LCU has a long and storied history. Brian is a fantastic communicator and a great next step for this critically important program. He melds solid biblical interpretation with passionate and engaging preaching. But what I appreciate most about him is that everything he does encourages you to be a better disciple of Jesus. I am thrilled that our students will not only be able to study with Brian, but actually participate in his work as Campus Pastor as a laboratory where they can apply what they are learning in the classroom.”
Brian has served churches large and small in Florida, Indiana, and Illinois. He has been a church planter, lead minister, and even a Managing Editor with Christianity Today. He has served as LCU’s Campus Pastor since July 2018.
“One of the great joys in my return to LCU has been the engaging conversations and mentoring moments I’ve been able to share with our many ministry majors, and particularly our preaching majors,” says Lowery. “I’m thrilled to be able to continue that kingdom work in the classroom, and I’m humbled to be able to build on the foundation built by so many godly and gifted faculty members who have come before me and shaped me deeply in my own ministry.”
Brian is a 2000 graduate of Lincoln Christian College (BA in Preaching) and a 2005 graduate of Lincoln Christian Seminary (MDiv, New Testament). He and his wife Sarah (LCC ‘01) and their daughter Eden live in Lincoln and attend Mt. Pulaski Christian Church.
