Go around the world in 60 minutes at the Warehouse! LCU’s International Student Office is hosting its annual International Cultural Fair on Friday, February 21, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. Guests will be treated to food, games, songs, and traditions from countries across the globe as LCU students and faculty share their cultural roots.
The International Student Office at LCU planned the Fair last year in conjunction with the Chinese New Year, a 15-day observance that ends February 14 in 2014. More than 200 people attended the celebration in 2013, prompting requests to do it again – and that’s what they are preparing to do.
This year, event organizer and Associate Director of Student Success, Belinda Landry, anticipates participation from representitives of Africa, Asia, and South America, as well as the nation of Haiti. A variety of foods, festive booths and tables, and special presentations by students and faculty from the participating countries will showcase the unique and diverse cultures that make up who we are as an LCU community.
“The countries represented here emphasize the fact that, although we are from different cultures, we can still come together and celebrate our unity in Christ,” said Alyson Chitwood, student co-organizer for the Fair. “It’s a great opportunity to experience world cultures right here on our very own campus.”
