Coming off their first ever Mid-West Regional Championship, the Lincoln Christian University (LCU) Red Lions baseball team waited patiently to discover who they would play in their opening round game of the NCCAA II World Series in Mason, OH. The wait is over as the World Series double-elimination bracket has been released, giving LCU (11-16) the #7 seed and pitting them against #2 seeded Florida Christian College (FCC) on Wednesday, May 8 at 4:00 p.m. (EST).
LCU played FCC (21-20) on March 27, 2013, when they traveled to Kissimmee, FL, losing the single game, 2-15.
The other teams competing in the World Series are: #1 seed Toccoa Falls College, #3 seed Dallas Christian College, #4 seed Clearwater Christian College, #5 seed Arlington Baptist College, #6 seed Ohio Christian University, and #8 seed will be either Cairn University or Lancaster Bible College as they have yet to play their Regional Championship game. Toccoa Falls College out of Stephens, GA has won the NCCAA II World Series the last two years.
Depending on the outcome of game one, LCU will play either Ohio Christian University or Dallas Christian College in their second game.
This is the first World Series appearance for LCU. In 2000, 2005, and 2006, the national tournament was an invitational where every team is invited. LCU attended, but never qualified for the semi-finals of the double-elimination brackets.
