Lincoln Christian University (LCU) has been voted The Courier 2013 Readers’ Choice number one college in Logan County. The Courier, Lincoln and Logan County’s daily newspaper since 1889, began the annual tally in 2010. More than 26,000 votes were tabulated in the voluntary reader poll that covered over 150 categories this year. Readers cast their ballots in print and online over a 10-day period from January 15 to 24, 2014.
This is the first year LCU has earned the top spot. There are three institutions of higher education that offer classes in Lincoln, Illinois — quite a claim for a community of just over 14,000 people.
“LCU has enjoyed a supportive and collaborative relationship with the communities of Logan County for many years,” said President Keith H. Ray. “The friendships and professional relationships between the University and the townspeople have truly been enriching. We are humbled to be recognized in this special way.”
The Readers’ Choice Awards allow Logan County and area communities to support their favorite businesses and activities while providing residents with a handy goods and services reference for the year. Runners-up or “favorites” in each category were also included in this year’s edition of the results.
We want to thank The Courier readers for the honor bestowed upon us during our 70th anniversary, and for visiting our campus as students and guests as we live our mission to to train and equip students to lead and serve in the church, the workplace and the world.
