Volleyball Takes At-Large Bid to NCCAA D1 National Tournament

Volleyball Team 2015

The Lincoln Christian University Red Lions volleyball team continue post season play December 3-5, 2015, at the National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA) Division I National Tournament, in Kissimmee, FL.

The Red Lions finished their season with a 26-15 record, good enough to earn an at-large invitation after losing the NCCAA North Central Region Championship game to Judson College Saturday night on their home court in Lincoln, IL.

“I’m excited for the opportunity going to the national tournament gives us,” LCU Head Coach Dave Donnelly said. “We have the potential to go out and beat anybody we play when we play well. This is a very experienced team so I am hopeful that the pressure of a national tournament will be an environment they thrive in.”

LCU Athletic Director Mac Ingmire said, “This is a great accomplishment for our volleyball program. With our transition to NAIA and NCCAA DI over the last couple of years, this shows that as our entire department has taken a step forward, our volleyball program has kept pace and proven it can compete at a high level. I’m proud of our girls for their hard work, and believe they deserve this opportunity to compete for a national championship.”

Eighth-ranked LCU’s first match will be against the number one seeded Indiana Wesleyan University at noon on Thursday, December 3. The Red Lions will play their second match against fourth seeded Oklahoma Baptist University at 6 p.m. that evening.
