Lincoln Christian University separates emergencies into one of three categories
- Level 1 Campus Emergency Is where there is a concern but not an immediate danger
Examples: Suspicious behavior, Storm Event Danger/Damage, Concerning Smell
- Level 2 & 3 Campus Emergency Is where there is a concern that is an immediate danger
Examples: Injury requiring medical care, incidents where law enforcement is required
In the event of a Level 1 Campus Emergency, students should use the LCU On-Call Emergency Number. If using an on-campus LCU network phone you may dial “6809” or simply push the preprogrammed Emergency button highlighted on the console or call (217) 651-6809. A member of the Emergency Management Response Team will answer this number 24-hours a day to assist with safety concerns. If there is no answer follow the instruction and leave a message. A representative will call you back within 5 minutes.
When sharing information with the Emergency Management Representative provide the following information:
- What you see, heard, or found
- The exact location of the incident
- Your name
- Details of the situation
- Stay on the line until you are told to hang up
- Make sure that you (the caller) are not in danger
- Follow instructions given by the Emergency Management Representative
In the event of a Level 2 or 3 Campus Emergency contact “911” immediately. Followed up by a call to the LCU On-Call Emergency Number.
Emergency Management Team
The Emergency Management Team is made up of twelve individuals representing various departments of the LCU community, including but not limited to, Human Resources, Facilities, Custodial Services, Housing Directors, Counseling, and a variety of Faculty and Staff. The team meets on a regular basis to review emergency prevention, protection, mitigation response, and recovery.
