Apartment Application/Survey

Apartment availability is based on a first come, first hold basis for LCU students.
Apartments are available January 1-May 31 and August 1-December 31. Summer rental is available at a prorated cost.
Cable hook-up is available in each apartment, but must be arranged and paid for by the renter.
Free, secure WiFi is provided by LCU. Residents are not permitted to have any outside internet service or install any network equipment, including routers.
No pets allowed.
Non-Discrimination Policy:
Lincoln Christian University offers housing, as available, to registered students of any gender or race. It does not discriminate on any basis prohibited by law, except as allowed in exemptions permissible to religious organizations to discriminate on the basis of religious beliefs and practices held by Lincoln Christian University.

Lincoln Christian University is a Christian community for those who have come together for the purpose of academic pursuit, personal growth, and spiritual advancement. A sense of “community” comes from a covenant – to encourage each other and to be accountable in our behavior to each other. All students in our community are expected to follow these general guidelines of conduct:

• No behavior or attitude is acceptable that degrades or endangers another person…Since individuals are highly valued in the image of God (Genesis 1:26), students are expected to conduct life with respect, compassion, and a commitment to the health and growth of others.

• No behavior or attitude is acceptable that damages property…Since the Cultural Mandate (Genesis 1:28) calls us to be responsible stewards with all of culture, students are expected to take care of the facilities that God has entrusted to us.

• No behavior or attitude is acceptable that violates Biblical authority…Since the Redemptive Mandate (Matthew 28:17-20) calls us to make disciples in a fallen world, students are expected to obey Biblical commands, prohibitions, and patterns for living as responsible Christian witnesses in public and in private.

• All behavior and attitudes should be motivated by love…Since the Devotional Mandate (Mark 12:30-31) calls us to love God and others, students are expected to demonstrate the integrity of love in there private and public lives, to practice accountability with each other where integrity fails, and to respect the local, state, and federal rule of law as a minimum standard of Christian love.

As members of this community, all students agree to live within the boundaries established in this Handbook. These boundaries are not arbitrary; they go to the core of who we are as a community.

University Mission

Lincoln Christian University is a Christian higher education community whose mission is to nurture and equip Christians with a Biblical worldview to serve and lead in the church and the world.

Spiritual Life Expectations

All students are expected to be a regular part of a Christian congregation as their primary worshipping body.

Conduct Expectations

• LCU is an alcohol-free campus. Possession and/or consumption of alcohol is not permitted anywhere on the LCU campus, including the student apartments.

• LCU is a drug-free campus. Possession, manufacture, sale, delivery, purchase, or use of marijuana is prohibited and students remain subject to disciplinary action. Having a medical cannabis registry identification card under the Illinois Compassionate Use of Medical Cannabis Program Act does not allow individuals to use or possess cannabis while a student at LCU.

• LCU is a tobacco-free campus. Possession and/or consumption of tobacco is not permitted anywhere on the LCU campus, including the student apartments.

• Possession, manufacture, sale, delivery, or viewing of pornographic material – including Internet based material – is considered to be sexual immorality. Consequently, it is prohibited. All computers on the University system are monitored for inappropriate use.

• Lincoln Christian University prohibits sexual harassment and is committed to preventing, correcting, and disciplining incidents of unlawful harassment, including sexual harassment and sexual assault. Sexual harassment, sexual violence, and a hostile environment because of sex are forms of sex discrimination and should be reported. LCU believes that spiritual growth and personal well-being are best promoted where all may feel safe from sexual harassment and exploitation.

• Sexual immorality is prohibited by God's Word, and therefore by the University. This includes premarital sex, extramarital sex, homosexual behavior, gender modification, and any other sexual activity outside the bounds of a Biblical marriage.

The intent of this covenant is to identify expectations that assist LCU in functioning as a Christian community with appropriate goals.
