Dare to Dream: The Story of the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team, an HBO sports presentation, will air at Lincoln Christian University on Friday, November 1, 2013, in Restoration Hall’s Dowling Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. The film is part of the Jessie C. Eury Library’s new “Global Perspective on Women in Society” collection, made possible by a $5,000 Illinois State Library “Back to Books” grant received earlier this year.
The film follows the lives of the Olympic championship team over a 17-year span leading up to their game-changing victory. Intended for audiences of all types, Dare to Dream will inspire everyone.
“They found opportunities where there had been none, and created a new nation of fans,” narrator Liev Schreiber says. Dare to Dream is being aired during the 2013 NCCAA-Div II Midwest Regional Women’s Soccer Tournament hosted by LCU. Everyone is welcome.
Funding for this “Back to Books” grant project was awarded by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services to the Secretary of State/Illinois State Library under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA).
